Multis Head to DeLoss Dodds Invite

A small group of UCLA multi-athletes will head to Kansas State

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA multis will get their first crack at a full meet as three Bruins travel to the DeLoss Dodds Invitational at Kansas State. The meet will be held in the Ahearn Field House and will begin on Friday, Jan. 22 and conclude on Saturday, Jan. 23.

The women's pentathlon will start the meet off for the Bruins at 8 a.m. PT on Friday while the men's heptathlon will start at 9 a.m. The action on Saturday begins at 7 a.m. PT with the last of the three events for the heptathlon.

UCLA will be represented in Manhattan by All-American Steele Wasik, sophomore Zack Bornstein and Duke transfer Kendall Gustafson.

Wasik enters his sophomore season after earning second-team All-American accolades in the decathlon as a true freshman. His personal best score of 7,521 ranks eighth all-time at UCLA. He finished 12th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Wasik has two career collegiate heptathlon meets under his belt with a best score of 5,313.

Bornstein is competing in his first indoor season at UCLA. As a freshman during the outdoor campaign he posted a decathlon score of 6,991. He finished eighth at the Pac-12 Championships.

Gustafson is in her first season at UCLA after transferring midyear from Duke. At Duke she mainly competed in the javelin during the outdoor season and ran the 60m hurdles and long jumped during the indoor season in 2014. This weekend will mark her first collegiate pentathlon.

The Bruins will return to the track on Friday, Jan.29 when they head to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Razorback Invitational. The two-day meet will be held in the Tyson Track Center and will air on the SEC Network.
