BREA, Calif. - Five Bruins captured MPSF All-Academic accolades, as announced by the conference office. The five players in 2015 consists of senior Daniel McClintick, juniors Garrett Danner, Patrick Woepse and Alec Zwaneveld and redshirt freshman Austin Rone.
McClintick, a senior utility from Agoura Hills, Calif. (Agoura HS), had a grade point average of 3.277, picking up his third straight academic all-conference award. This season, he was sixth on the team with 26 goals. He was second the team in both assists (37) and field blocks (16) and was sixth in steals (16).
Danner, a junior goalkeeper from Coto de Caza, Calif. (El Toro HS), had a grade point average of 3.132, earning his first academic all-conference honor. He led the MPSF in goals against average for the third consecutive season and set the UCLA single season (278) and career (773) record for saves.
Woepse, a junior center from Tustin, Calif. (Mater Dei HS), had a grade point average of 3.398, earning his first academic all-conference award. He played in 20 games on the year, scoring eight goals while drawing 24 exclusions, which ranked fourth on the team. His six penalty shots drawn led the squad.
Zwaneveld, a junior center from La Cañada, Calif. (Harvard-Westlake School), had a grade point average of 3.242, picking up his second straight academic all-conference honor. This season, he scored eight goals and tallied five steals, two assists and was seventh on the team in exclusions drawn with 16, including two penalty shots.
Rone, a redshirt freshman attacker from Coronado, Calif. (Cathedral Catholic HS), had a grade point average of 3.235, earning his first academic all-conference award. This season, he played in 22 games, starting twice, while scoring 13 goals and registering 11 steals. He was seventh in assists with 22 and also won three sprints and drew three exclusions.
In order to be qualified for the MPSF All-Academic Team, each member had to attain at least a 3.0 grade point average, be at least a sophomore academically and compete in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
The Bruins finished the 2015 season by winning the program's 10th NCAA Championship and the school's 113th overall with a 10-7 victory over USC. UCLA finished the year with a perfect 30-0 overall record, the Bruins' first undefeated season since 1969 and the school's single-season record for wins.
