LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Pac-12/SEC Challenge comes to Westwood this year as the twelfth-ranked UCLA men's tennis team hosts three of the top-ranked teams in the nation.  Joining the Bruins this weekend at the Los Angeles Tennis Center are No. 6 Georgia, No. 8 Southern California, and No. 20 Florida.    

UCLA (3-0) opens against Georgia in a 1:00 p.m. matchup on Saturday, Jan. 30.  On Sunday, the Bruins face Florida in another 1:00 p.m. bout.  UCLA is fresh off a 4-0 win over then 42nd-ranked Georgia Tech to advance to the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships in February.    

USC Scouting Report

The No. 8 Trojans are 2-0 overall after two wins at last week's ITA Kick-Off Weekend.  USC blanked UC Davis 7-0 to advance to the Indoor Qualifier on Sunday, where the Trojans edged Tulane 4-3.  Four Trojans are ranked nationally in singles: #41 Nick Crystal, #69 Logan Smith, #83 Jake DeVine, and #115 Max de Vroome.  USC does not currently have any ranked doubles pairs. 

Georgia Scouting Report

The No. 6 Bulldogs are 2-0 overall after beating UC Santa Barbara 4-1 and Memphis 4-1 last week in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend.  Georgia has five players nationally ranked in singles:  #20 Wayne Montgomery, #28 Austin Smith, #40 Paul Oosterbaan, #88 Nick Wood and #105 Walker Duncan.  In doubles, UGA has #10 Smith/Wagland and #45 Montgomery/Reinberg.

Florida Scouting Report

The No. 20 Gators are 3-1 overall after a split in ITA Kick-Off Weekend competition last week, beating then No. 20 Texas 4-0 and falling to No. 15 Texas Tech 4-3.  Florida has five players nationally ranked in singles:  #31 Diego Hidalgo, #49 Elliott Orkin, #62 Chase Perez-Blanco, #91 Alfredo Perez and #97 McClain Kessler.  In doubles, Florida has #3 Hidalgo/Watson and #40 Lipman/Orkin. 

Last year, the Bruins dropped both matches to their SEC foes.  Ranked No. 4 at the time, UCLA fell to No. 17 Florida 4-3 after suffering a 4-2 loss to No. 7 Georgia.  In the first installment of the Pac-12/SEC Challenge, the second-ranked Bruins toppled fourth-ranked Georgia 4-3 before cruising past No. 11 Florida 4-1.    

The 2016 Pac-12/SEC Challenge is the third of a four-year agreement between UCLA, Georgia, Florida and USC to play in the event.  USC hosted in 2014, followed by Georgia last year.  Florida will host the fourth installment in 2017.
