No. 19 UCLA swept both diving events in loss to No. 2 Stanford

Los Angeles, Calif. – The No. 19 Bruins swept the diving events at Friday's Breast Cancer Awareness Meet against second-ranked Pac-12 foe Stanford.  Freshman Eloise Belanger won both springboard events, posting a season-best 322.73 in the 3-meter and a 295.35 in the 1-meter.

Belanger set a new meet record in the 1-meter.  The previous record of 292.58 was set by Stanford's Kassidy Cook last year when the Cardinal hosted the Bruins in Palo Alto.

Junior Annika Lenz also recorded two top-five finishes on the boards, placing second in the 1-meter (279.15) and fourth in the 3-meter (287.78).

Between the lane lines, freshman standout Emma Schanz swam the top time in the 200 Breaststroke—the Bruins' only win of the meet.  Schanz posted an NCAA B qualifying time of 2:13.03, edging Stanford's Ella Eastin by .31 seconds.  In the 100 Breast, the newcomer placed second (1:03.72).

Juniors Linnea Mack and Madison White each recorded two second-place finishes in their respective races, as did sophomore Katie Grover.  Mack swam an NCAA B qualifying time of 53.88 in the 100 Backstroke, followed by a 23.42 in the 50 Freestyle.  After swimming a season-best 1:49.06 in the 200 Freestyle, White recorded an NCAA B qualifying time (1:56.79) in the 200 Backstroke.  Grover finished second in both Butterfly events.

In a quick meet, UCLA fell to Stanford 182-118.

The Bruins are back in action Saturday, Jan. 30, when they host third-ranked California.  The meet begins at 12 p.m. with the 1-meter event and the 200 Medley Relay.
