Track Travels North to Husky Classic

UCLA track heads north to compete at the Husky Classic in Seattle

LOS ANGELES - This weekend the UCLA track and field team will head to Seattle, Wash., to compete at the Husky Classic. The two-day meet will begin on Friday, Feb. 12 and be held at Dempsey Indoor on the campus of the University of Washington.

Field and track events will begin at 4 p.m. PT on Friday, Feb. 12 with the men's weight throw and women's 200 meters. Continuing on Saturday Feb. 13 the meet will begin at 9 a.m. PT with the women's weight throw and women's 60m hurdles prelims. 

Live streaming will be available on flotrack.org beginning on Feb. 12 at 4 p.m. PT. Live results will also be available at GoHuskies.com.

UCLA returns after competition last weekend at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational with several personal best performances. The Bruins outstanding performances on the field were Austin Hazel winning the long jump with a personal best of 24-4.50 and Nicholas Scarvelis winning the shot put and remaining undefeated in 2016.

On the track Ferdinand Edman won the 3,000m with a personal best of 8:04.49. In the heptathlon Steele Wasik claimed first place with a personal best score of 5,599. 

Scarvelis enters the weekend still ranking second in the country and first in the MPSF in the shot put with a personal best toss of 66-9.75. Also pacing the MPSF is Leon Powell in the 60m with a time of 6.70 and Rai Benjamin in the 200m with a time of 21.17.

UCLA will return to the indoor oval when it heads to Notre Dame, Ind., to compete at the Alex Wilson Invitational. The meet will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20.
