
Senior Sadiqua Bynum (Berkeley, Calif.) of the UCLA gymnastics team was named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Feb. 1-7.
For the second time this season, the outcome of the meet was in Bynum's hands, and for the second time, she delivered, scoring 9.95 on floor exercise to give UCLA a 197.100-197.075 come-from-behind victory over Pac-12 rival Utah. Bynum was the final competitor of the day and needed a score of 9.925 to tie. She finished with a 9.95 to tie her season-high. She did the same in the season opener, scoring 9.95 on the final routine to clinch the win over Alabama. Bynum also contributed a second-place score of 9.85 on vault. Her scores helped the Bruins achieve a season-high team score of 197.100 and a season-high score on floor of 49.600. Bynum is one of five Bruins ranked in the Top 20 in the nation on floor, checking in at No. 18 with a season average of 9.890. She has scored 9.9 or higher in four of five meets this year.
This is Bynum's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
