Jake Arnitz was named MPSF POW; Micah Ma'a Off the Block Fr. of Wk.

JAKE ARNITZ - MPSF / MOLTEN PLAYER OF THE WEEK

UCLA outside hitter Jake Arnitz (Yorba Linda, Calif. / Esperanza HS) was named the MPSF/MOLTEN Men's Volleyball Player of the Week for his play last week in UCLA's wins over #2 Long Beach State and #12 CSUN.

Arnitz blasted 17 kills at a .429 hitting percentage and added a career-best 13 digs in the five set win over Long Beach. He also totaled four block assists and registered 19.0 points. In the win over CSUN, Arnitz was credited with a career-high 21 kills, becoming the first Bruin to reach the 20-kill mark for the season. He hit .421 on 38 swings against the Matadors.The sophomore added a season-high five block assists for a career-best 23.5 points in the match.

This is Arnitz's first career MPSF Player of the Week honor. Teammate Mitch Stahl won the award earlier this season, on Jan. 11, for his play in opening week wins over George Mason, Ohio State and Penn State.

MICAH MA'A - OFF THE BLOCK/SPRINGBAK,Inc. CO-NATIONAL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Off the Block announced Monday that Long Beach State outside attacker TJ DeFalco and UCLA setter Micah Ma'a were selected as the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Co-National Freshman of the Week.

Ma'a had 13 kills and a team-high 30 set assists along with the match-winning ace as UCLA rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat #2 Long Beach State. He led all players with seven aces and helped guide the offense to a .336 hitting percentage in the four-set win against No. 12 CSUN.

This is the second time this season that Ma'a have earned National Freshman of the Week honors.
