NEW ORLEANS - The fourth-ranked Bruins continue their spring season at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate at the English Turn Golf and Country Club. The tournament runs from Sunday through Tuesday and will be a 54-hole event on the par-72, 6,239-yard layout.
UCLA's five starters will be senior Louise Ridderström, junior Bronte Law, sophomore Lydia Choi and freshmen Lilia Vu and Bethany Wu. Playing as a non-team scoring individual will be sophomore Erin Choi. The Bruin fivesome tees off the first hole on Sunday starting at 9 a.m. CT/7 a.m. PT, with Erin Choi opening on the 10th hole at 10:30 a.m. CT/8:30 a.m. PT. Monday's action will also be off split tees beginning at 9 a.m. CT/7 a.m. PT, while Tuesday's final round will be a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT/6 a.m. PT. Live scoring will be available here.
Joining the Bruins in the 17-team field are #2 Stanford, #7 Alabama, #11 Florida, #12 Arizona, #13 Oklahoma State, #28 Virginia, #35 Michigan State, #38 Texas, #45 Miami, #46 Clemson, #49 LSU, Denver, Mississippi State, UC Davis, UCF and host Tulane. UCLA won this tournament in 2014 with a record-setting score of 21-under 843, while finishing second and losing in a playoff the year prior.
UCLA tied for fifth in its spring debut earlier this month (Feb. 7-9) at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. The Bruins shot a +26 (878). This season, the Bruins have one victory at the Nanea Pac-12 Preview (Nov. 2-3), while also finishing third at the Stanford Intercollegiate (Oct. 18-20) and sixth at the Annika Intercollegiate (Sept. 27-29).
Law, the top-ranked collegiate player in the latest Golfweek rankings, has produced back-to-back, T-4 finishes, which was preceded by a victory at October's Stanford Intercollegiate. Of her dozen rounds, seven has been under par and four have been in the 60's.
Wu is coming off her best collegiate finish with a T-10 (+3, 216) at the NGRC. She has two other Top 15 finishes at the Annika (12th, -4, 212) and the Pac-12 Preview (T-15, +4, 223). Fellow freshman Vu tied for 20th (+8, 221) earlier this month. She had a T-8 (+1, 220) at the Pac-12 Preview and a T-19 (-1, 215) at the Annika.
Ridderström finished the fall with a pair of Top 10's, going T-10 at the Pac-12 Preview (+2, 221) and T-8 at the Stanford Intercollegiate (+1, 214). Lydia Choi posted a T-15 at Nanea (+4, 223) and a T-20 at Stanford (+4, 217), while Erin Choi finished T-11 at Stanford (+2, 215) and T-32 at Nanea (+11, 230).
