UCLA is coming off its best 54-hole score of the season earlier this month when it finished second at the Amer Ari Invitational (Feb 4-6) in Waikoloa, Hawai'i. The Bruins were 27-under with a three-round score of 837, their best total since the 2014 Goodwin in Stanford. UCLA was first in the field on the par 3's (-6), 10 shots better than the next team, as well as tops on the par 5's at -29 and in birdies made with 64. The Bruins also have a pair of third-place finishes at the Northern Intercollegiate (Sept. 12-13) and the Erin Hills Intercollegiate (Oct. 4-6) and a fourth-place showing at the Gifford Collegiate (Nov. 2-4) this season.
Three Bruins finished inside the Top 15, led by senior Jonathan Garrick, who tied for fifth at 9-under (207). For Garrick, who was named to the Ben Hogan Award Watch List on Feb. 10, it was his fourth Top 10 of the season and the fifth time out of five tournaments that he led UCLA in scoring. Garrick recorded his second-career victory at Erin Hills with a score of 10-under (206).
After posting a T-45 (Northern) and a T-51 (Gifford) in the fall, Shaun recorded a career-best, 6-under total of 210 in Hawai'i to put him in a tie for 10th, as he shot a trio of 2-under 70 rounds. Madey notched his second-straight Top 15 finish in Hawai'i, going T-13 at -5 (season-best 211). Having played in all five tournaments this season, the freshman also had a T-12 at the Gifford.
Chan made his season debut in Hawai'i after sitting out the fall with a wrist injury and tied for 30th at 2-under 214. Delisi tied for 36th (-1, 215) at the Amer Ari Invitational. His best finish this season was a T-24 at Erin Hills.
