FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Linnea Mack and Eloise Belanger delivered standout performances to close out the action at the 2016 Pac-12 Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. Mack broke another one of her own school records on Saturday evening, while Belanger placed second in the platform diving event. After four days of action, the Bruins finished in fifth place.

200 Backstroke
Four Bruins advanced to the evening session of the 200 Back, led by Madison White's seventh place finish in the prelims. Marie-Pierre Delisle (1:58.42), Natalie Amberg (1:59.18), and Nina Hayes (2:00.96) each posted season-best times to make the bonus final.
In the championship final, White posted another seventh-place finish but improved her time to 1:54.14. In the C race, Delisle swam a season-best 1:58.14 to finish 20th overall, while Amberg and Hayes were 22nd and 24th, respectively.
100 Freestyle
Mack qualified for the championship final in the 100 Free when she swam a season-best 48.62 to tie for sixth in the prelims. Teammates Caroline McTaggart and Applegate advanced to the C race. Applegate's 50.38 was a new season best. Sarah Kaunitz just missed the cut for the evening session, placing 25th with a season-best 50.50 in the prelims.
In the evening swim, Mack broke another one of her own UCLA records. The junior swam a career-best 48.17 to finish fifth in the championship final of the 100 Free. In the bonus final, McTaggart placed second (18th overall) and Applegate was eighth (24th overall).
200 Breaststroke
Emma Schanz placed fifth in the morning swim to advance to the A final of the 200 Breast. The Bruin newcomer posted a season-best 2:10.43, improving her previous top time from the A3 Performance Invitational by two seconds. Rounding out the top 24 to advance, Elena Escalas swam a season-best 2:17. 27 to make the C final.
Schanz slipped to sixth in the championship final, but posted another season-best in the event (2:09.89). In the bonus final, Escalas swam the seventh-best time to finish 23rd overall.
200 Butterfly
Arlyn Upshaw, Katie Grover, and Katie Kinnear fell just short of the championship final finishing ninth, 10th, and 11th in the prelims. The trio joined teammate White in advancing to the consolation final. Delisle and Alex Hubel both qualified for the bonus final.
Grover, Upshaw, and Kinnear went 1, 2, 3 in the consolation final, while White finished eighth. Upshaw's 1:57.08 was a new season best. In the bonus final, Delisle tied for first with a season-best 1:59.65 and Hubel was eighth with a season-best 2:01.28.
1650 Freestyle
Sandra Soe recorded a top-five finish in the 1650 Free finals. The Bruin freshman swam a season-best 16:23:23 to finish fifth. Teammate Michaela Merlihan was 15th overall with a season-best 16:49.72—11 seconds faster than her previous top time, which she swam at the Texas Invitational. Hayden Walker also recorded a top-20 finish.
400 Freestyle Relay
To close out the swimming events, the Bruin quartet of McTaggart, Mack, Grover, and White hit the pool for the 400 Free Relay. The squad swam a 3:17.81 to finish fifth.
Platform Diving
Belanger captured second place in the platform event on Saturday evening. After posting a 313.80 in prelims, she went on to score a 312.65 in the finals to finish second behind Stanford's Gracia Leydon-Mahoney. Teammate Annika Lenz also placed in the top five. The Bruin junior tallied a 292.00 to finish fourth overall.
