Jake Arnitz Named UCLA Athlete of Week

Men's Volleyball

Jake Arnitz is the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week.

UCLA/Muscle Milk

Sophomore outside hitter Jake Arnitz (Yorba Linda, Calif.) of the UCLA men's volleyball team was named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Jan. 25-31.

Arnitz hit .425 for the week while producing career highs in kills (21 v. CSUN), points (23.5 v. CSUN) and digs (13 v. Long Beach St.) in leading the Bruins to a pair of wins over No. 2 Long Beach State and No. 12 CSUN. He is the first Bruin to record over 20 kills in a match this season. His five block assists against CSUN were a season-high total and one shy of his career-best mark in that category. He had six kills in set three of the comeback win over CSUN, including back-to-back kills for the deciding points which handed UCLA a 27-25 victory and helped to turn that match around. The 10-0 start for UCLA is its best since the 1998 team began the year with 16-straight victories.

This is Arnitz's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of his career.

Also nominated: Bryce Alford, M. Basketball; Nirra Fields, W. Basketball; Danusia Francis, Gymnastics; Mackenzie McDonald, M. Tennis; Nicholas Scarvelis, Track & Field.
