Ohashi Named Pac-12 Freshman of Week

Katelyn Ohashi was named the Pac-12 Gymnastics Freshman of the Week.

For the third time this season, Katelyn Ohashi has been named the Pac-12 Gymnastics Freshman of the Week.

Ohashi won the balance beam with a career-high 9.9 in her first meet back after sitting four weeks with a sternum fracture. The freshman from Plano, Texas was fearless on her return to the apparatus where she was initially injured, nailing her flight series and leap combos and ending with a new dismount, a backhandspring/layout/full twist. The beam victory was the first of her collegiate career, and her 9.9 led the Bruins to a team total of 49.225.

Washington's Allison Northey was named the Gymnast of the Week, and Utah's Breanna Hughes was named the Specialist of the Week.

Ohashi and the Bruins return to action on Sunday, Mar. 6 with a tri-meet in Pauley Pavilion against Georgia and Stanford at 12pm. Tickets are available now at uclabruins.com/tickets.
