LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The No. 28 UCLA women's tennis team is back in action on Tuesday when it hosts No. 24 Fresno State in the teams' second meeting of the season.  Last time out, the Bruins fell to the Bulldogs, 4-3, in the season-opening ITA Kickoff Weekend back in January.

UCLA (9-4, 2-1) returns home from a rain-plagued trip to the Bay Area where the Bruins' first match against top-ranked Cal was called due to rain.  The following day, UCLA faced then No. 23 Stanford.  Due to rain in the forecast, the match kicked off with singles play and both teams decided to forego doubles.  The Bruins got off to a slow start, dropping five of six first sets.  From there, Stanford registered four straight-set wins to take an insurmountable 4-0 lead.  The rest of the matches played out—No. 19 Catherine Harrison recorded UCLA's lone point on court 1 against No. 26 Taylor Davidson. 

The Bruins currently have two players ranked nationally—No. 19 Harrison and No. 96 Kyle McPhillips.  The duo checks in at No. 6 in doubles.    

Scouting the Bulldogs

Last time out, Fresno State (10-4) won its fifth consecutive match, and fourth while dropping only one point, as the team cruised to a 6-1 victory over Sacramento State.  The Bulldogs won all three doubles matches and each of their singles wins came in straight sets.

Before heading to Westwood, the Bulldogs travel to Santa Barbara to face Harvard on March 20, followed by UC Santa Barbara on March 21.     

Fresno State currently has one player ranked nationally—No. 34 Mayar Sherif Ahmed.  In doubles, Ahmed and her partner Rana Sherif Ahmed are No. 20.
