ATLANTA, Ga. – The UCLA women's swimming and diving teams close out the 2015-16 season with a 17th-place finish at the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. Throughout the week, the Bruins broke two school records between the lane lines and recorded three top-five finishes on the boards.
200 Backstroke
Junior Madison White just missed the cut for the evening session, finishing 19th in the 200 Back prelims with a 1:53.64.
100 Freestyle
Junior Linnea Mack and freshman Caroline McTaggart swam for the Bruins in the 100 Free prelims. Mack tied for 26th with a mark of 48.86 and McTaggart placed 59th with a 50.65.
200 Breaststroke
Freshman Emma Schanz posted a 2:11.06 to finish 28th in the morning session.
200 Butterfly
Sophomore Katie Grover and senior Katie Kinnear represented UCLA in the 200 Fly. Grover just missed the cut to advance to the evening swim, finishing 21st with a 1:56.43. Kinnear swam the 37th-best time (1:58.67) of the prelims.
400 Freestyle Relay
The UCLA women's swim team closed out the championships with the prelims of the 400 Free Relay. The Bruin quartet of White, Mack, McTaggart, and Grover finished 19th with a 3:16.45, just missing the mark to advance to the finals. White's lead-off leg was a new career-best time.
Platform Diving
Junior Annika Lenz and freshman Eloise Belanger hit the tower for the final diving event of the week. Belanger finished 16th in prelims with a 251.70, followed by Lenz in 17th with a 251.55. In the evening session, Belanger improved to 15th place (209.85).
