STANFORD, Calif. - The Bruins head north for this weekend's The Goodwin tournament to be played at the Stanford Golf Course. The tournament runs from Thursday through Saturday at the par-70, 6,727-yard course.
The UCLA scoring fivesome will consist of seniors Lorens Chan, Jonathan Garrick and Reilly McMahon and freshmen Cole Madey and Patrick Murphy. Sophomore Brandon Mai will play as an individual. The Bruins will tee off on the 10th at 12:25 p.m. in the order of McMahon, Murphy, Chan, Madey and Garrick. Live scoring can be found here.
Joining the 43rd-ranked Bruins and host #11 Stanford in the 25-team field are #5 USC, #18 North Carolina, #28 Oregon, #30 SMU, #33 UNLV, #36 Pepperdine, Arizona, BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Fresno State, Loyola Marymount, Marquette, Nevada, Northern Colorado, Northwestern, Pacific, Saint Mary's, San Francisco, San Jose State, Santa Clara and UC Davis.
The Bruins have finished in the Top 5 in four of seven tournaments this season, including a second-place showing in their spring debut at the Amer Ari Invitational (Feb. 4-6) in Hawai'i. Garrick has been the leading UCLA scorer in six of seven tournaments. He has one victory on the season (Erin Hills Intercollegiate, Oct. 4-6), four Top 10's, 11 rounds under par and seven rounds under 70.
Madey is the other Bruin to have been the top finisher in a tournament, which came at The Hayt (Feb. 26-28) when he tied for 19th. The freshman has three Top 20's on the season, four rounds under par and two under 70. Chan has appeared in all three spring events since missing the fall with a wrist injury. His best showing was a T-30 in Hawai'i.
Murphy has played 18 rounds in his first collegiate campaign and has a pair of Top 20's, including a T-9 at the season-opening Northern Intercollegiate (Sept. 12-13). He has four rounds under par and two in the 70's. McMahon is making his second appearance with the Bruins after posting a T-28 finish at the TMC Spring Invitational (Feb. 29-March 1). Mai, who has played as an individual in four of his five tournaments, tied for sixth (season best) at the TMC thanks to a pair of 70's in his first two rounds.
