Bruin Trio Awarded All-America Honors

Francis, Bynum, Cipra received regular season All-America honors.

Seniors Danusia Francis and Sadiqua Bynum and junior Angi Cipra were awarded regular season All-America honors by the National Association of College Gymnastics Coaches (NACGC/W).

Francis earned first-team honors on balance beam and has now collected five All-America honors in her career, including four first-team selections. She finished the regular season ranked No. 2 in the nation with a Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 9.945. She scored a perfect 10 earlier this month and last week won a share of the Pac-12 beam title.

Bynum received first-team honors on floor exercise for the first time after earning second-team acclaim a year ago. Bynum was ranked No. 1 in the nation on floor for two weeks and finished the regular season ranked No. 7 with a RQS of 9.935. Bynum has posted seven scores of 9.95 or higher on floor this season, with a high of 9.975, and had a streak of five consecutive victories on floor.

Cipra earned All-America honors for the first time in her career as a second-team selection on floor exercise. She finished the regular season ranked No. 9 in the nation with a RQS of 9.930. Cipra posted four scores of 9.95 or higher this season, including a 9.975. She has amassed three floor victories and seven Top 3 finishes in 10 meets.

UCLA has now produced 64 All-Americans who have totaled 321 All-America honors.

This is the fourth year the NACGC/W has awarded All-Americans for the regular season. First-team All-Americans are the Top 8 ranked gymnasts on each event and the all-around. Second-team All-Americans are the gymnasts ranked No. 9-16.
