SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The UCLA men's golf team wraps up its regular-season competition this week with a Monday-Wednesday tournament, The Western Intercollegiate, at the Pasatiempo Golf Club, a par-70, 6,615-yard layout.
The tournament will feature shotgun starts all three days, beginning at 8:45 a.m. The Bruins will send out seniors Lorens Chan and Jonathan Garrick, sophomore Tyler Collier and freshmen Phil Delisi, Cole Madey and Patrick Murphy. The low five of six scores will be counted each round for the team total. On Monday, Collier and Murphy will begin on the first, as will Garrick and Madey, while Chan and Delisi open on the second.
UCLA has won this tournament three times, most recently in 2011. The 14-team field includes #1 USC, #7 Arizona State, #9 Stanford, #15 California, #21 San Diego State, #25 Washington, #26 Oregon, Arizona, Hawai'i, Pepperdine, San Jose State, UC Irvine and UTEP.
The last tournament for the Bruins was back on March 24-26 at The Goodwin in Stanford, as UCLA finished in a tie for 14th. The Bruins have four Top Five finishes this season, with a season-best, second-place showing at the Amer Ari Invitational in February.
