The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team will be heading to Bryan, Texas and the Traditions Club for the NCAA Regionals, which will take place May 5-7.
The Bruins are the top seed at the Bryan Regional, which also includes Georgia, Arizona, Kent State, Furman, Texas A&M, TCU, Texas, SMU, Louisville, Miami Florida, Tulane, Campbell, Indiana, Texas State, Delaware, Lamar and Quinnipiac.
A total of 72 teams made the NCAA Regionals at four different sites in Bryan, Texas, Stanford, Calif., Shoal Creek, Ala. and Baton Rouge, La. The top six teams from each Regional (54 holes of stroke play) will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. (May 20-25).
The Bruins have not finished worse than sixth in any stroke-play tournament this season, boasting four victories (Nanea Pac-12 Preview, Bruin Wave Invitational, Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic stroke play, PING/ASU Invitational) and a second-place showing at last week's Pac-12 Championships.
Junior Bronte Law enters the postseason as the top-ranked collegiate golfer, according to Golfweek, as she has a pair of wins (Stanford Intercollegiate, PING/ASU), two seconds and two T-4's, with a scoring average of 70.7. Freshman Lilia Vu, ranked fifth by Golfweek, has four Top 10's and a scoring average of 71.8, placing second and T-3 in her last two events. Freshman Bethany Wu, ranked 33rd, has a 73.1 scoring average and a pair of Top 10's, including a T-12 at the Pac-12 Championships. Senior Louise Ridderström posted back-to-back, stroke-play wins at the Bruin Wave and the Liz Murphey and also has four Top 10's, while junior Hadas Libman has played in each of the last two stroke-play tournaments, posting a T-36 at Pac-12's.
The Bruins have advanced out of the NCAA Regionals a school-record, 15-consecutive times, including eight wins (2014, 2012, 2011, 2009, 2008, 2005, 2004, 2002). It is the second-straight trip to the Lone Star State for the Bruins in Regional competition after participating in the 2015 San Antonio Regional, where they finished second.
UCLA returns to the scene of its most recent National Championship. The Bruins brought home their third NCAA title at the Traditions Golf Course in 2011.
