UCLA's 2016 freshman class has been ranked No. 1 in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer. The Bruins have six incoming freshmen in the Top Drawer Soccer Top 100, including three Top 10 players in No. 1 Mal Pugh, No. 2 Marley Canales, and No. 10 Jessie Fleming.

The Bruins' other ranked players are No. 22 Sunny Dunphy, No. 30 Jacey Pederson and No. 94 Kaiya McCullough. Rounding out the incoming class are junior college All-American transfer Julia Hernandez and Australian U-20 goalkeeper Teagan Micah.

The incoming freshmen have been busy since signing with UCLA. Pugh has been a standout for the U.S. Women's National Team in 2016, playing in 11 games with seven starts. At just 17 years and 269 days old, she became the youngest player in the U.S. Women's National Team pool to make her debut in the last 11 years. She also became the 19th U.S. female player to score in their international debut and the sixth youngest goal-scorer in U.S. history when she scored against Ireland on Jan. 23. Since then, she has added one more goal and five assists.

Fleming helped the Canadian National Team qualify for the Olympics through a second-place finish at the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament. She also helped Canada win the Algarve Cup in March. Canales joined the U.S. Under-20 National Team at camp in Florida in April and also played with the Under-18 National Team in La Manga Spain, along with McCullough and Dunphy. Pederson joined the U.S. Under-19 National Team at a training camp in Northern California in March, and McCullough wrapped up an Under-18 National Team training camp in Carson this past weekend. Hernandez has enrolled at UCLA already and played with the Bruins in the Spring.

Micah has been a fixture with Australia's Youth National Team, captaining the U-13s and U-17s and playing with the U-20s. She is also a W-League veteran, having played with Brisbane Roar from 2013-15 and Western Sydney Wanderers from 2015-16.
