UCLA will compete in the evening session of the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships team semifinals on Friday, Apr. 15. The competition will take place at 7:00 pm CT at the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Also competing in the evening session are Oklahoma, Nebraska, Utah, Alabama and California.
Competing in the afternoon session at 1 pm CT will be Florida, Minnesota, Auburn, Stanford, LSU and Georgia. Both semifinals sessions will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
Friday's team semifinals determine the all-around and event champions and the qualifiers to the Super Six Team Finals. The top three finishers from each semifinal session will advance to the Super Six Team Finals on Saturday, Apr. 16 at 8 pm CT.
The Bruins will start the meet on uneven bars, followed by balance beam, a bye, floor exercise and vault. UCLA ends the meet on a bye. Utah has the Olympic order and will start on vault. Alabama begins on a bye before bars. California starts on beam, Oklahoma has a bye before floor, and Nebraska begins on floor. Rotating with UCLA will be individual all-around qualifier Brianna Brown from Michigan and floor exercise specialist Rachel Slocum of Eastern Michigan.
In the first semifinal, Auburn begins on vault, LSU has a bye before bars, Stanford begins on bars, Georgia starts on beam, Florida has the bye before floor, and Minnesota begins on floor.
All teams and individuals will participate in podium training at the arena on Thursday, Apr. 14. The Bruins, along with Utah, California and Nebraska, will be in the final practice session, which runs from 3:32-5:18pm. Podium training is free and open to the public.
UCLA will be competing in its 32nd NCAA Gymnastics Championship and seeking its seventh NCAA title and first since 2010. The Bruins have qualified to the NCAA Super Six 18 times since the format was introduced in 1993.
