KOHLER, Wis. - The UCLA men's golf team begins the NCAA Tournament at the Kohler Regional, which will take place Monday through Wednesday. The 54-hole, stroke-play event will be played on the par-72, 7,123-yard layout at the Meadow Valleys Course at Blackwolf Run.
The scoring fivesome for the Bruins will be seniors Lorens Chan and Jonathan Garrick, sophomore Tyler Collier and freshmen Phil Delisi and Cole Madey. On Monday, UCLA will go off the first tee starting at 8:55 a.m. CT/6:55 a.m. CT in the order of Chan, Delisi, Collier, Madey and Garrick. Live scoring will be available here.
The Regional site, one of six around the country, will feature Illinois, Florida State, Florida, Arkansas, Baylor, Penn State, Memphis, Kent State, East Tennessee State, Campbell, Idaho and South Dakota State. The top five teams after three days of play will advance to the NCAA Championships (May 27-June 1) in Eugene, Ore.
The Bruins have finished in the Top 5 in four tournaments this season, placing second at the Amer Ari Invitational (Feb. 4-6), third at the Northern Intercollegiate (Sept. 12-13) and Erin Hills Intercollegiate (Oct. 4-6) and fourth at the Gifford Collegiate (Nov. 2-4). In its most recent tournament, UCLA placed eighth at the Pac-12 Championships (April 29-May 1).
Garrick, who was named All-Pac-12 Second Team, is the top UCLA scorer with a 71.8 average. He has a victory and five Top 10's on the season, winning at Erin Hills, finishing four at the Gifford, T-5 at the Amer Ari Invite, T-6 at the Northern and T-7 at Pac-12s. Of his 31 rounds, 15 have been under par and 11 have been in the 60's.
Madey, who was honored with a spot on the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team, has four Top 20's, including a T-15 at the Pac-12 Championships. He was also T-12 at the Gifford and T-13 at the Amer Ari. At Pac-12s, Collier tied for 48th, Chan tied for 50th and Delisi tied for 53rd.
UCLA is making its 24th-straight appearance in the NCAA Regionals and will be looking to advance to the NCAA Championships for the 14th season in a row to continue its school-record streak. The Bruins have won five regional titles, including three under current head coach Derek Freeman (2009, 2011 and 2013).
