7TH INNING SPOTLIGHT
An ordinary day for a UCLA baseball player sounds a little like this: 6:00 am wake up call for weights, class throughout the day, and practice in the afternoon going into the evening. With most of their days committed to baseball it's hard to think they'd have time for anything else in their lives, but rest assured they do.
The Seventh Inning Spotlight aims to shine light on the unique personalities and lifestyles of each UCLA baseball player with Q & A's to get to know each player beyond their athletic abilities. In one word describe your experience at UCLA.
Memorable.
What is your biggest accomplishment on and off the field during your four years at UCLA?
Being apart of the 2013 National Championship team and off the field is just making all the friends from my classes and other teams and kind of just growing up on my own.
As a senior what advice would you give to 1st year student athletes?
Don't procrastinate, take care of your body, enjoy it and have a lot of fun. Have as much fun as you possibly can because it goes by quickly.
What are your plans after graduation?
Either keep playing baseball or hope to join the fire department.
What makes you laugh no matter what?
Dad jokes, which are typically bad.
Outside of baseball, what are some of your hobbies?
I like to fish, watch movies, shoot pool, and golf.
What was your most embarrassing moment at UCLA?
My 21st birthday party.
What restaurant would we find you most in Westwood?
Jersey Mike's.
What UCLA event did you never miss?
The SC football game.
Describe your favorite moment as a Bruin.
Getting to go to Dodger Stadium after we won the National championship. Just being on the field and getting introduced in front of a full stadium.
What are three things you still need to do before graduating?
Pass all my classes, go tunneling, and do an undie run.
What do you think are the most important character traits learned from playing on a sports team?
Learning to accept failure, take orders from people above you, and how to work with others when times are tough.
If you could have one skill you don't already have what would it be?
Play the piano.
If you could change one thing during your time at UCLA, what would it be?
To have stayed healthier. I wish I wasn't hurt for half of the time.
What's one item you have in your fridge at all time?
Chocolate Zico.
What's the greatest life lesson you learned while at UCLA?
Don't take anything for granted; it can be taken away in a short moment.
Name one thing you think everyone should know to survive college.
Definitely study days in advance.
