LOS ANGELES – UCLA outfielder Kort Peterson has been named the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week for April 25-May 1, it was announced by the conference office on Monday.
Peterson started all four games for UCLA last week, one at designated hitter, two in right field and one in left field. The junior went 6-for-17 (.353) with one double, two triples, two runs and 11 RBI. Peterson drove in multiple runs in three of his four games, including a five RBI effort against Utah on Sunday, May 1, which set a new single game career-high for him. He also recorded his first career two triple game on Sunday. Peterson's strong run production this week moves him into a tie with Sean Bouchard for first on the team in RBI with 31 runs driven in. Peterson also now leads the team in triples, recording four on the year.
This is Peterson's first career Player of the Week award and UCLA's 61st all-time selection. Peterson joins Griffin Canning and Kyle Molnar as the third Bruin to earn Player/Pitcher of the Week honors this season.
UCLA heads south to take on the Long Beach State Dirtbags tomorrow at 6:00pm PT at Blair Field before playing a home and home three-game series with UC Irvine this weekend. Tickets for Friday and Sunday are available and can be purchased by visiting uclabruins.com/tickets or by calling 310-UCLA-WIN. Fans can also listen to all four games live on uclabruins.com.
