TULSA, Okla. – The seventh-ranked duo of Catherine Harrison and Kyle McPhillips upset top-ranked Aldila Sutjiadi and Mami Adachi of Kentucky in the NCAA quarterfinals on Saturday morning.  With the straight-set win, the Bruin seniors advance to the semifinals of the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Doubles Championship. 

"I feel like we played really well today," said Harrison of the win.  "We were really putting together plays and playing really clean with very few mistakes."

Despite the first-set blanking, the games remained tight with two of them going 40-40 before UCLA put them away.  Second-seeded Adachi and Sutjiadi started off strong in the opening game and took an early 30-0 lead, but Harrison quickly got in a groove and attacked the sidelines and open court to run up the score.  The Bruin duo took the opening set with a dominant sixth game.

The Bruins were unable to break for the first time in the match in the opening game of the second set.  Kentucky jumped out to an early 40-0 lead, and an aggressive serve by Adachi gave the Wildcats an early 1-0 advantage.  UCLA rallied to win three straight games before Kentucky could muster another.  Harrison and McPhillips led 40-0 on match point, but the UK duo fought to bring it to 40-30.  The Bruins held the Wildcats at bay to put away the match and move on to the final four.

Harrison and McPhillips face third-ranked Brooke Austin and Kourtney Keegan of Florida on Sunday, May 29.  Austin and Keegan advanced to the semis with a 6-4, 6-1 win over No. 15 Ebony Panoho and Alex Osborne of Arizona State.  

"We're pretty excited," said McPhillips of advancing.  "We know that we have the capability of winning matches, but there's a lot of good teams here so we're excited to be on to the next round."
