Bruins Head to Ohio for NCAA Regionals

Bruins face Fighting Irish in first round of NCAAs.

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 25 UCLA women's tennis team heads to Columbus, Ohio, for first- and second-round play for the 2016 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship.  NCAA Regionals take place May 13-14 at Ohio State's Varsity Tennis Center. 

The Bruins (14-6) take on Notre Dame (14-13) in the first round on Friday, May 13.  The other first-round match on Friday features No. 4 seed Ohio State (28-2) and Youngstown State (12-12).  The two winners will meet in the second round on Saturday, May 14. 

Teams that advance through NCAA Regional play will earn a spot in the NCAA Round of 16 in Tulsa, Okla., where teams will compete for the national championship May 19-24.  The event will be hosted by the University of Tulsa. 

Tournament matches will be regulation dual matches with three eight-game, pro-set doubles played for one team point, followed by six singles matches, each valued at one team point, played in best-of-three sets.  Regular scoring will be used and a 12-point tiebreaker will be played at seven-games-all in doubles and at six-games-all in singles.
