LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- UCLA women's basketball head coach Cori Close announced the addition of 6-foot guard Lindsey Corsaro on Thursday, signing the McDonald's All-American to a grant-in-aid. Corsaro, out of Roncalli High School in Indianapolis, will arrive in Westwood this summer and will travel with the Bruins in August for a foreign tour through Australia.

“Lindsey Corsaro is a phenomenal student-athlete, a versatile guard and a high-impact level player,” Close said. “She comes from a tremendous family and we're excited to have her join our Bruin family.”

Corsaro, who was one of four finalists for the IndyStar Miss Basketball, was named the Indiana Comeback Athlete of the Year in 2016, an award given to just one athlete (boy or girl) regardless of sport. She averaged 25.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.8 steals per game as a senior and was the first McDonald's All American in Roncalli HS history.

She earned the award after tearing the ACL on her left knee toward the end of her junior year. She made it back on the court in 10 months, in time for the Roncalli opener, when she ripped Perry Meridian (Indianapolis) for 41 points, which was her career high at the time. Two games later, she scored 43 points against Indianapolis Pike. She finished her season leading the team to a 24-5 record and setting single-season (607) and career scoring (1,904) records at Roncalli HS.

Corsaro had a litany of awards in 2016, including serving as a team captain, being named Roncalli's MVP, RHS Female Athlete of the Year, four-time First Team All-Marion County (2013-16), Marion County Female Scholastic Athlete of the Year, four-time First Team Indianapolis Star Super Team, four-time First Team All-State, First Team Academic All-State, Naismith Trophy All-American Honorable Mention and a Jordan Brand Classic All-American.

She also garnered IBCA First Team Underclass All-State honors for three seasons (2013-15) and was invited to the U17 Team USA National Trials in 2014. She was in the top portion of the espnW HoopGurlz Top 100 as a five-star recruit, sitting at No. 35 in the nation while being tabbed as the No. 8 guard in the class of 2016. Prospectsnation.com listed Corsaro as the 15th-best player in the nation. All-Star Girls Report ranks her as the No. 26 overall prospect in the class of 2016.

As a junior in 2015, she averaged 22.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.5 steals per game. In her sophomore season (2014), she averaged 19.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game. A four-year starter at RHS, she averaged 13.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.8 steals per game as a freshman in 2013. She is Roncalli's career leader in 10 statistical categories, including double-doubles. She also graduated from RHS with a grade point average of 4.53 out of 4.0.

"We have been following her early in her career, since she was a freshman in high school," Close added. "We were bummed when she committed to Kentucky. This is such a cool thing that it has come full circle and we were able to get the guard we wanted. She has great vision as a guard and has a great attack mentality. She is long and can shoot the three but attack the basket and is a good passer. She is committed to working hard on both ends of the floor. The bottom line is, she is a tremendous get for our program and the UCLA community."

Corsaro originally chose Kentucky over Vanderbilt, Indiana, Iowa and Iowa State. After reopening her recruitment in April, she chose the Bruins over Baylor, Indiana, Michigan, Texas, Tennessee and Washington.
