NORMAN, Okla. - Senior Lorens Chan was named to the Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Team on Wednesday, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. A total of 212 players in Division I earned the honor.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a cumulative career grade point average of 3.2.
Chan earned GCAA All-America Scholar Team honors both seasons he was eligible, also receiving the accolade in 2015. Additionally, he was a three-time member of the Pac-12 All-Academic Team. After missing the fall season with a wrist injury, Chan returned to the Bruin lineup in the spring and played in all 22 competitive rounds. He posted a scoring average of 74.0, including four rounds under par and a season-best 69 at The Western Intercollegiate (April 11-13), the site of his best finish of the year (T-16). Chan added a 69 at the NCAA Regionals (May 16-18).
