UCLA freshmen Anika Rodriguez and Jessie Fleming have been selected to Top Drawer Soccer's Preseason All-Freshman Team.

Rodriguez, who started in the Bruins' exhibition opener against BYU on Saturday, redshirted in 2015 after suffering a knee injury during her high school season. She returned for the Bruins' spring season and starred with SoCal Blues over the summer, leading her team to the US Youth Soccer National Championship and earning selection to the Best Eleven team. Rodriguez is a veteran of the U.S. Youth National Team program and played in the 2013 CONCACAF U-17 Championships.

Fleming has yet to join the Bruin squad, as she is playing with Team Canada at the Olympic Games. She has started in each match at the Olympics and recorded an assist in the opening game. A member of the full national team since she was 15 years old, Fleming already has played in a Women's World Cup and Olympic Games. Additionally, she was the Golden Ball winner at the 2013 CONCACAF U-17 Championships in 2013 and Canada's female U-20 Player of the Year in 2015.

UCLA officially opens its season on Friday, Aug. 19 at San Diego State. The match will take place at SDSU Sports Deck at 7pm. Admission is free.
