College Station, Texas - In front of a boisterous Fish Camp Night crowd of 5,875 at Ellis Field Friday night, No. 15 UCLA (2-0) defeated No. 11 Texas A&M (1-2) by a 1-0 score. The Bruins received the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute from redshirt freshman Chloe Castaneda, the first goal of her collegiate career.
MacKenzie Cerda started the game-winning play with a pass to Anika Rodriguez across the top of the box. Rodriguez slotted a pass to Castaneda just outside the right corner of the penalty box, and Castaneda fired a bullet into the upper right corner to give UCLA the 1-0 lead after a scoreless 82 minutes of play.

UCLA's defense, led between the pipes by freshman goalkeeper Teagan Micah, held on for the shutout, the team's second consecutive to start the year. Micah had five saves in the contest, a total matched by Rice.
The Bruins had the advantage in shots, 18-11, and in shots on goal, 6-5.
UCLA will host No. 6 Florida on Sunday, Aug. 28 at Drake Stadium. The match will be televised live on Pac-12 Networks.
