Fields leads Team Canada to a comeback win in women's basketball play.

Women's Basketball:
Bruin alumna Nirra Fields and ninth-ranked Team Canada continued its hot start in the Olympics, rallying from 18 points down to defeat 14th-ranked Serbia, 71-67. Fields came off the bench to play 9:55, tying for second on the team in scoring with eight points (all in the fourth quarter) on 3-for-6 shooting from the field including going 1-for-1 from three-point range. She also added one steal and one rebound. Serbia led Canada 67-65 with 1:11 remaining. But the Canadians got a traditional three-point play from Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe with 0:48 to go and a three-pointer from Miah-Marie Langlois with 0:08 on the clock to complete the come-from-behind victory. The Canadians continue Pool B play on Wednesday, Aug. 10 when they take on 24th-ranked Senegal at 1:45pm PT.

Women's Rowing
Former UCLA standout Meaghan Volker made her Olympic debut on Monday morning, rowing for Australia in the women's eight. Australia finished fourth out of four crews in its preliminary heat, posting a time of 6:22.68. The United States (6:06.34) raced to a first-place finish and was followed by the Netherlands (6:14.36) and Romania (6:16.24), respectively. Volker and her Australian teammates will compete in a women's eight repechage later this week.

Women's Rugby
Team USA, which is captained by UCLA alumna Kelly Griffin, wrapped up play with a fifth-place finish at the first-ever Olympic women's rugby sevens tournament. The U.S. team won two matches today, defeating Fiji 12-7 to start the day and then topping France, 19-5, in the fifth-place game. France led 5-0 at halftime, but the U.S. turned it up in the second half with 19 unanswered points.

Women's Volleyball
The U.S. women's volleyball team, led by head coach Karch Kiraly, came back from 2-1 down to defeat the Netherlands in five sets (18-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-20, 15-8) on Monday to improve to 2-0 in pool play. Karsta Lowe entered the match in the third set and played a few points. Pool play continues on Wednesday at 11 a.m. against Serbia.

Men's Tennis
Poland's Marcin Matkowski and partner Lukasz Kubot fell to the eighth-seeded Spanish duo of Roberto Bautista Agut and David Ferrer in the second round of doubles play.  After dropping the first set, 6-3, the Polish pair battled back to force a second-set tiebreaker, where they fell 7-6(5).  

Men's Water Polo
The U.S. Olympic Men's Water Polo team came up short against Spain, losing 10-9 in its second match at the 2016 Olympic Games. After going up 7-6 with 3:54 left in the third, the United States allowed four unanswered as Spain built a 10-7 lead with 4:11 to play in the fourth quarter. A late rally from the United States wouldn't be enough as Spain hung on for the one goal win. UCLA alumnus Josh Samuels got his second straight start, winning both of his sprints. He was 0-for-2 on his shots and played 15:30 before fouling out. UCLA junior Alex Roelse came off the bench and recorded one steal, but did not take a shot and also fouled out. Team USA now falls to 0-2 in Group B action with France coming up on Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 7:40am PT. The match will be live on NBC at 7:40am PT and on delay at 10:40am PT. The match will also stream live on NBCOlympics.com and NBC Sports App at 7:40am PT.
