No. 15 UCLA Blasts Colorado 82-64

BOULDER, Colo., -- Nirra Fields scored 17 points, leading four Bruins in double figures as No. 15 UCLA led for 38:20 of the game, winning 82-64 at Colorado on Friday night at the Coors Events Center.

Lajahna Drummer scored a career-high 16 points off the bench and added five rebounds. Monique Billings had 10 points and eight rebounds while Kelli Hayes also had a career-high scoring night with 13 points off the bench.

UCLA got off to a hot start, making its first two three-pointers and leading 15-5 with 5:55 to go in the first quarter on a layup by Jordin Canada. The Bruins led 22-16 at the end of the first.

The Bruins were even better in the second quarter, winning the period 23-14 to build a 45-30 lead at halftime.

Normally a strong quarter for UCLA, the two teams battled to a 14-14 tie in the third period. But the Buffaloes couldn't get closer than 10 points in the period, or in the second half. The Bruins won the fourth quarter 23-20 and were never threatened.

Haley Smith led a trio of Buffaloes in double figures with 17 points. James Swan ended the game with 16 points after getting in early foul trouble. Alexis Robinson had 14 points for Colorado.

TIP-INS

UCLA: The Bruins' defense forced 23 turnovers (16 steals) and won their third straight over Colorado. ... UCLA improved to 13-0 when leading at halftime this season. ... The Bruins opened the game on a 15-5 run. ... Kari Korver's streak of 30-straight games with a three-pointer, a UCLA record, came to an end.

Colorado: The Buffaloes came in averaging 13.6 turnovers per game and had 23 tonight. ... The Buffaloes came into this evening's contest shooting 35.9 percent but shot just 22.2 percent (4-for-18). ... Colorado dropped to 5-15 overall, and 0-9 in the Pac-12.
