LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The top-ranked UCLA Bruins improved to 16-0 on the year with an 11-0 victory over No. 13 UC Irvine (7-6) in a non-conference game at Spieker Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon. It was UCLA's first shutout of the season, its first shutout since a 10-0 win last year at San Jose State (Oct. 18, 2015) and its first shutout of the Anteaters since twice beating them 1-0 in 1979. It also marked the Bruins 49th-straight victory overall, which extends the second-longest winning streak in school history. The all-time record is 50, which was established from 1964-68.

Junior Matt Farmer and sophomore David Stiling led the Bruins with two goals apiece. Senior Garrett Danner started in goal for the Bruins, recording four saves while pitching a shutout in the first half. Junior Aleksandar Ruzic came on in relief in the second half, registering seven saves while also pitching a shutout.

Senior Patrick Fellner opened the scoring, finding the back of the net as the shot clock expired to put UCLA up 1-0 (7:13). Senior Ryder Roberts then put the Bruins up 2-0 with a power play goal (3:25). Junior Alex Roelse then made it 3-0 with a cross-cage heater (1:35). Stiling ended the scoring in the first with a power play goal to give the Bruins a 4-0 lead (0:05).

UCLA opened the scoring in the second with a goal at set from Farmer (5:24). Redshirt freshman Eric Goldenberg made it 6-0 with a cross-cage counter attack strike (4:48). Farmer added his second of the game with a nice catch, turn and finish at two meters (0:01) to give the Bruins a 7-0 lead at the break.

Junior James Robinson scored a power play goal to open the scoring in the third (6:31) to push the lead to 8-0. Senior Patrick Woepse made it 9-0 with his own catch, turn and score at set (4:50). Stiling then tied his career-high with his second score (2:28) to make it 10-0. Not to be outdown, senior Alec Zwaneveld then caught a ball at two meters, turned and fired for a bar-down goal (0:20) to end the scoring in the period with UCLA leading 11-0

Both teams went scoreless in the fourth.
