The UCLA baseball program's incoming class has been ranked nationally at No. 16 by Baseball America, announced the national publication on Wednesday. It marks the third consecutive year that the Bruins have been tabbed in the top 25.
This year's incoming class totals 14 players and includes three who are ranked inside Baseball America's top 500 draft-eligible players. Infielder Ryan Kreidler (Davis, Calif.), outfielder Jeremy Ydens (Campbell, Calif.) and first baseman and outfielder Michael Toglia (Gig Harbor, Wash.) were each selected in the 2016 Major League Baseball amateur draft and are ranked inside Baseball America's 2016 Top 500 draft eligible players , while Toglia was named the MVP of this summer's West Coast League.
The 2017 class includes three freshman pitchers, right-handers Ryan Garcia (Sierra Madre, Calif.) and Kyle Mora (Los Alamitos, Calif.) and left-hander Nick Scheidler (Encinitas, Calif.). Two freshman catchers were also added, Ty Haselman (Newcastle, Wash.) and Will McInerny (Laguna Beach, Calif.), along with junior college transfer catcher Gavin Johns (Temecula, Calif.).
The Bruins also added infielders Kyle Cuellar (Arcadia, Calif.), Chase Strumpf (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) and Jack Stronach (La Mesa, Calif.), in addition to outfielders Jordan Prendiz (Visalia, Calif.) and Jarron Silva (Stockton, Cailf.).
UCLA's incoming recruiting class was also ranked No. 16 in the country by Collegiate Baseball earlier this Fall.
