UCLA Returns Home to Host Utah

LOS ANGELES - UCLA (3-4,1-3) returns to the Rose Bowl on Saturday, Oct. 22 to host (No. 19 AP /18 Coaches poll) Utah (6-1, 3-1) in a game which kicks off at 1 p.m. The contest will be televised by FOX and announcing the game will be Gus Johnson, Joel Klatt and Shannon Spake. The Bruin IMG Radio Network (Josh Lewin, Matt Stevens, Wayne Cook) will radio broadcast the contest on am570 or 1150am. The contest will also be aired over Sirius 137/XM 198 (internet 960), uclabruins.com and tunein.com, and the TuneIn App. Sports USA Radio will also have the call with John Ahlers and John Robinson in the booth.

VERSUS UTAH - UCLA leads the series with Utah 11-3 overall, with the Bruins owning a 3-2 edge since Utah joined the conference. The past four meetings have been decided by a total of 24 points.

Last season in Salt Lake City, Josh Rosen threw for 220 yards and a touchdown as UCLA dealt Utah a 17-9 defeat. The Bruins scored touchdowns on two long drives to start the first and third quarters. Paul Perkins added 98 rushing yards and a touchdown while Jordan Payton had a game-high 105 receiving yards for the Bruins and his fourth quarter catch gave him the UCLA career record for receptions. UCLA scored its lone touchdown of the first half on the opening possession of the game. Rosen hit receiver Thomas Duarte for 33 yards on the first play and 28 yards for a touchdown five snaps later. Ka'imi Fairbairn's field goal put the Bruins up 10-0. Utah's four first-half drives produced just two 39-yard field goals. The Utes added a 21-yard field goal in the third quarter to cut the Bruins' lead to 10-9. But UCLA's Perkins scored on a two-yard run with 5:17 left in the third quarter.

The Utes registered a 30-28 win in 2014 in the Rose Bowl. The visitors jumped out to a 14-0 advantage following an interception return and a scoring pass and then fended off a Bruin rally down the stretch. Perkins put UCLA on the board with a short run, but Utah kicked a field goal just before the end of the half for a 17-7 edge at the break. UCLA scored first in the second half and cut the deficit to 17-14. The teams then traded scores with Devin Fuller hauling in a 92-yard scoring pass to bring UCLA within three, 24-21, early in the fourth. Eldridge Massington caught another scoring pass from Brett Hundley, after a Ute field goal, to lift UCLA into a 28-27 lead. NEXT GAME โ UCLA will have a bye next weekend before heading to Boulder to face Colorado. The two teams will play on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. The contest will air on FS1.
