Lonzo Ball Named to Cousy Award Watch List

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – UCLA freshman Lonzo Ball has been announced as one of 20 watch list candidates for the 2017 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award presented by College of the Holy Cross.
Ball, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound guard from Chino Hills, Calif., averaged 23.9 points, 11.3 rebounds, 11.5 assists and 5.1 steals per game as a senior last season at Chino Hills High School. He secured national honors as the Naismith High School Player of the Year and the Morgan Wootten Player of the Year in addition to being named the Gatorade State Player of the Year in California.
Now in its 14th year, the Cousy Award recognizes the top point guards in Division I men's college basketball. A national committee of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates.
By mid-February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2017 Cousy Award will be narrowed to just 10 candidates. In March, five finalists will be presented to Mr. Cousy and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. The winner of this year's award will be presented at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show in Los Angeles on Friday, April 7, 2017.
