Brymer Faces Trojan Foe in ITA Final

MALIBU, Calif. โ For the third straight year, the ITA Southwest Regional Championships singles final will be a crosstown showdown between a Bruin and a Trojan.ย This year, the final pits second-seeded Gage Brymer against fourth-seeded Thibault Forget.ย
Brymer advanced to the championship match after downing No. 3 seed Logan Smith (USC) in straight sets in the semis.ย Forget secured his spot in the final with a three-set win over top-seeded Martin Redlicki.ย After Redlicki took the first set 6-3, Forget rallied in the second to force a third.ย Redlicki was unable to keep pace in the final set, falling 6-3, 5-7, 3-6 to his Trojan foe.ย

In doubles play, fifth-seeded Joseph Di Giulio and Austin Rapp fell in the championship match to UCSB's Simon Freund and Morgan Mays.ย The Bruin pair won the first set 6-4, but the Gaucho duo battled back to take the second set 6-3.ย It was neck and neck in the super tiebreaker, but Freund and Mays edged Di Giulio and Rapp 11-9 to claim the title.ย
In their semifinal matchup on Sunday morning, Di Giulio and Rapp defeated Cal Poly's Garrett Auproux and Timothy Tan, 8-5.ย
The Southwest Regional Championships conclude tomorrow with the championship singles match.ย The showdown begins at 11 a.m. PT.ย Results can be found on theย event page.ย
