No. 9 UCLA came away empty at Utah on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Utes, 2-0, after Utah scored goals in the 20th and 89th minutes.
The Bruins (12-5-1, 6-3-1 in the Pac-12) were outshot, 12-10, by the Utes (11-3-4, 6-1-3), who picked up their first win over UCLA since 2004.
Utah scored the first goal in the 20th minute on a header by Katie Rogers off a Natalee Wells corner kick. The goal came just one minute after the Bruins staved off a scoring chance off another Utah corner kick. The Utes had a shot go off the crossbar, and the clearance went off the post, but UCLA goalkeeper Teagan Micah, while on her back, grabbed the bounce off the post to save a potential goal. Micah finished the game with five saves.
You could say the Bruins got a few lucky bounces here. Shoutout to @TeaganMicah for staying with the play. pic.twitter.com/G783vPg7ok

UCLA's best chances came early in each half. In the 10th minute, Jessie Fleming had a shot in the box saved in traffic by Utah goalkeeper July Mathias. Anika Rodriguez in the 47th minute took a booming shot from the top of the box, but Mathias made an incredible acrobatic save to keep the Bruins from tying up the game.
The Bruins caught a break in the 54th minute when Utah missed on a penalty kick. UCLA was whistled for a foul in the box, but Taylor Slattery's penalty kick hit the post to keep the Utah lead at just one goal. Utah did break through with its insurance goal in the 89th minute when the Pac-12's leading scorer Hailey Skolmoski scored near post after a takeaway.
UCLA will wrap up the regular season on Friday, Nov 4 against USC in a game at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. Kickoff is at 7:00pm. Tickets for the crosstown showdown are on sale now at axs.com.
