Three Bruins Garner All-Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS โ€“ The UCLA cross country team had three runners recognized by the USTFCCCA after the conclusion of the NCAA West Regional Championships. On the heels of both teams qualifying for the NCAA Championships, seniors Ferdinand Edman, Jonah Diaz, and sophomore Carolina Johnson earned all-region accolades.ย 

Johnson led the women's team with a 21st place finish last Friday in Sacramento. The sophomore ran a time of 20:07.5 on the 6k course to secure her spot on the all-region team for the second consecutive season. The women's team finished sixth overall to earn their second bid to the NCAA meet in the last three seasons.

Edman placed fifth overall with a time of 29:47.9 to lead the Bruins once again. Diaz also garnered all-region honors for a 14th place finish. The men's team finished third overall and will be making their third-straight appearance at the NCAA Championships.

These strong performances helped qualify both the women's and the men's cross country teams for the NCAA National Championships on Saturday, Nov. 19. The meet will be held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute, Ind.ย
