UCLA Football Falls to No. 13 USC, 36-14

PASADENA, Calif. – The UCLA football team dropped a 36-14 decision to No. 13 USC in a Pac-12 game at the Rose Bowl on Saturday evening.
USC quarterback Sam Darnold completed 25 of 36 passes for 267 yards, throwing a pair of touchdown passes, to lead the Trojans (8-3, 7-2 Pac-12) to their seventh consecutive victory.
Kicker Mark Boermeester successfully converted all three field goals attempts for USC, kicking from distances of 30, 32 and 25 yards.
Bruins' quarterback Mike Fafaul connected with Lasley for a pair of touchdowns. Fafaul completed 15 of 31 passes for 181 yards for UCLA (4-7, 2-6) in the team's final home game of the season.
The Trojans limited their crosstown rival to 266 total yards – 211 in the air and 55 on the ground.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair, but USC took control in the second half after having secured a 23-14 cushion by halftime. The Trojans outscored UCLA in the second half, 13-0.
Darnold helped the Trojans break a 14-14 tie with 8:12 to go in the second quarter by firing a 31-yard touchdown pass to De'Quan Hampton. Leading 20-14 with 12 seconds left in the opening half, Boermeester kicked a 30-yard field goal, putting the Trojans ahead, 23-14.
UCLA took the first lead of the game, moving 70 yards in the game's first 1:31. Fafaul threw a 56-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Lasley with 13:29 left in the opening quarter to put UCLA ahead, 7-0.
USC quickly tied the game, 7-7, on a one-yard run by Ronald Jones at the 9:50 mark. The Trojans' first scoring drive covered 50 yards on nine plays.
The Bruins regained the lead early in the second quarter after Fabian Moreau intercepted a pass from Darnold and returned it to USC's 9-yard line. Two plays later, Fafaul completed a seven-yard pass to Jaleel Wadood with 13:28 to play in the second quarter, giving UCLA a 14-7 cushion.
The Trojans tied the contest, 14-14, as Jones broke free for a 60-yard touchdown run on a 3rd-and-1 situation with 11:07 remaining in the second quarter.
USC's 13 second-half points came on a six-yard touchdown pass from Darnold to Hampton and two fourth-quarter field goals from Boermeester.
The Bruins will play their regular-season finale at California on Saturday, Nov. 26. Game time is 4 p.m. UCLA's game in Berkeley, Calif., will be nationally televised on ESPN2.
