Ferdinand Edman Garners All-America Honors

November 22, 2016 | Cross Country

NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced that UCLA senior Ferdinand Edman was named to the All-America team, the organization announced Monday. The top 40 finishers in each race garner the recognition.

Edman finished 14th at the NCAA Championships this past Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind. The 14th place showing was the best individual finish by a UCLA men's runner since Meb Keflezighi won the title in 1997.ย

The Norway native paced the Bruins in all five races he competed in this season. Edman garnered all-region accolades by placing fifth at the NCAA West Regional on Nov.11 after earning Pac-12 honors by finishing fifth in Tucson at the Pac-12 Championships on Oct.28.ย

Edman finished 10th overall at the prestigious Wisconsin Invitational on Oct. 14 and opened his 2016 campaign by finishing eighth at the Griak Invitational in Minnesota on Sept. 24.

Edman is the 21st All-America honor for the UCLA men's team. Lane Werley earned the honor last season and in 2012.
