SAN FRANCISCO – UCLA freshman Lonzo Ball has earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors, as announced Monday by the Pac-12 Conference office.
 
Ball averaged 15.7 points, 7.3 assists and 4.0 rebounds in UCLA's three wins at the Wooden Legacy tournament last week in Orange County. The 6-foot-6 guard from Chino Hills, Calif., continues to lead the nation in assists per game (9.1), having registered 64 total assists and 17 turnovers in seven games. He secured tournament MVP honors for his strong performance in the Wooden Legacy.
 
Ball becomes UCLA's first player to capture the conference's weekly honor since Bryce Alford earned the award on Jan. 11, 2016. This marks the first Pac-12 Player of the Week award in Ball's career.
 
In Sunday evening's championship game of the Wooden Legacy, Ball recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 assists as UCLA downed Texas A&M, 74-67. He buried a three-pointer with 2:40 to play in the game, pushing the Bruins ahead by a 65-63 margin.
 
Ball is currently averaging 16.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game, having started all seven contests for UCLA.
 
The Bruins are currently ranked No. 9 in the USA Today Coaches poll and No. 11 in the Associated Press poll, the program's highest rankings this late into the season since 2008-09. In addition, UCLA leads all NCAA Division I programs in overall field goal percentage (54.7) and assists per game (24.1). In the national stat rankings, the Bruins are No. 3 in points per game (96.9) and No. 4 in assist-turnover ratio (1.99).
 
UCLA (7-0) returns to action against UC Riverside (1-3) on Wednesday, Nov. 30. Game time in Pauley Pavilion is 8 p.m. (PT). UCLA's game will be televised on Pac-12 Network, with the radio broadcast available in the Los Angeles area on AM 570 (KLAC).
