November 29, 2016 | Women's Soccer
UCLA freshman midfielder Jessie Fleming earned NSCAA All-Pacific Region first team honors, while senior forward Darian Jenkins received second-team acclaim. The Bruin duo combined for 18 goals in the 2016 campaign.
Fleming made an immediate impact upon arriving in Westwood following the Olympic Games, where she helped lead Canada to a bronze medal. In her first game as a Bruin, she scored two goals, and she did not slow down from there, scoring in her first four games and tallying a team-high 11 goals with five assists for 27 points. Included in her 11 goals were two game-winners in overtime. Fleming was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection, as well as a Pac-12 All-Freshman honoree.
Jenkins was having her best season since her All-America freshman campaign when she suffered a season-ending fibula fracture on Oct. 2. At the time of her injury, she was leading the Pac-12 in scoring with seven goals, including five game-winners, and 17 points. Jenkins still earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors and was a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District selection. She finishes her career with 29 goals, 12 assists, 14 game-winning goals and 70 points.
