BOSTON, Mass. – UCLA senior guard Isaac Hamilton has been selected as one of 50 players to the preseason watch list for this season's Lute Olson Award, as announced Monday by CollegeInsider.com.
 
The Lute Olson Award is presented annually to the nation's top Division I player who has played at least two seasons. Transfer students and incoming freshmen are not eligible for the preseason watch list.
 
Hamilton, a 6-foot-5 guard from Los Angeles, averaged a team-leading 16.8 points per game for the Bruins last season, the third-highest scoring average of any Pac-12 player last season. In addition, Hamilton averaged 4.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 35.2 minutes per game before securing second-team All-Pac-12 honors.
 
One of four returning players from the Bruins' starting lineup last season, Hamilton enters the 2016-17 season as the Pac-12 Conference's top returning scorer (from last season's stats). Over the past two seasons, Hamilton has averaged 13.5 points in 68 games (68 starts).
 
With the award named in his honor, Lute Olson won 780 games in 34 seasons, 24 of which were spent at the University of Arizona. During that stretch he led the Wildcats to 11 conference titles, 23 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and four Final Fours, including the 1997 NCAA title.
 
The recipient of this year's Lute Olson Award will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com awards banquet on April 31, 2017, in Phoenix, site of this year's men's basketball Division I championship.
