GREENSBORO, N.C. -- No. 10 UCLA ended its non-conference slate and three-game road swing with an 83-42 victory at North Carolina A&T on Tuesday afternoon at Corbett Sports Center.
The Bruins trailed for a total of 1:22 in the game, all in the early minutes of the first quarter. Trailing 3-2, senior Kari Korver drained a three-pointer to put the Bruins ahead 5-3 and UCLA would never trail again. That sparked a 16-3 run and UCLA would build a 20-10 lead at the end of the first period.
UCLA posted an even better second period, outscoring the Aggies 25-7. The Bruins led 30-15 and closed the half on a 17-2 run to put the game away with a 45-17 lead at the break.
Another single-digit defensive effort followed for UCLA in the third quarter as the Bruins went on to post a 22-9 advantage in the period to head to the fourth with a commanding 67-26 lead.
The two teams battled to a 16-16 tie in the fourth quarter.
Five players finished in double figures for UCLA with Korver and Monique Billings leading the Bruins with 15 points each. Jordin Canada had the fifth double-double of the season (seventh of her career) with 12 points and 10 assists. Kennedy Burke and Kelli Hayes each contributed 11 points. Paulina Hersler made the first start of her collegiate career and responded with six points, a team-high seven rebounds and added two assists and one steal.
Kala Green was the only Aggie to reach double digits, finishing with 12 points.
