No. 21 Bruins Win Two in Doubleheader

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The No. 21 UCLA women's tennis team improved to 5-1 with two wins in Saturday's doubleheader against UC Davis and Cal State Northridge.
In the morning match, the Bruins blanked the Aggies 4-0. UCLA clinched the doubles point on court 3 after splitting with UC Davis on courts 1 and 2. Sophomore Kristin Wiley and freshman Alaina Miller blanked their opponents to give UCLA a 1-0 lead.
The Bruins made quick work of the Aggies in singles play. No. 18 Catherine Harrison dispatched Lani-Rae Green in straight sets to put UCLA on top by two. Shortly after, Wiley downed Kamila Kecki in straights as well. The deciding point was won by Kyle McPhillips on court 2. Her straight-set win lifted the Bruins to 4-0 to take the match.
In the second match of the doubleheader, UCLA faced Cal State Northridge. Once again, Wiley and Miller clinched the doubles point for the Bruins. In singles, sophomore Terri Fleming retired early, giving the Matadors what would be their only point of the match. Miller then cruised past Kiryang Kim, 6-1, 6-2, on court 3 to give UCLA a 2-1 lead. Harrison and McPhillips followed suit on courts 1 and 2, respectively, clinching the 4-1 win for the Bruins.
Next up, the Bruins host No. 17 Pepperdine on Thursday, Feb. 18, followed by a doubleheader with the men's team on Saturday, Feb. 20. For the latest information on the UCLA women's tennis team, please visit the team's Twitter account @uclawtennis.
