LOS ANGELES โ The 18th-ranked UCLA women's tennis team climbed out of an early deficit to beat No. 21 Washington 4-2 in Big Ten Conference play Sunday afternoon at Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Bruins earned a sweep of Oregon and UW on their two-match homestand.
Mayu Crossley and Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer logged dominant singles wins versus nationally-ranked players to give UCLA (11-6, 5-4 Big Ten) its first lead of the day. Ahmani Guichard and Olivia Center, who clinched the victory, also prevailed for the Bruins. The Huskies (15-3, 6-3) got a win from Marie Weissheim after claiming the doubles point.
UW came out on top of two 6-3 results in doubles play. Reece Carter/Jermine Sherif took down Guichard/Kayla Chung on Court 3 in the first decision. Karolina Kozakova/Erika Matsuda then bested Crossley/Lutkemeyer on Court 2, recording the initial point.
No. 41 Crossley raced out to a 6-1, 6-2 victory against No. 70 Carter on Court 2. Crossley has won six matches in a row and leads UCLA with a 13-3 dual singles record and a 16-8 overall singles mark.
Another ranked win followed on the next court up, where No. 17 Lutkemeyer topped No. 76 Matsuda 6-2, 6-1. Lutkemeyer is 6-3 opposite nationally-ranked singles foes.
Weissheim pulled the Huskies level with her 6-4, 6-3 showing versus Bianca Fernandez on Court 4. The Bruins bounced back on Court 5, though, as Guichard held off Kozakova by a 7-5, 7-5 score.
For the team-high fifth time in 2026, Center clinched a UCLA victory. The sophomore's latest was a 7-5, 6-3 display against Carina Syrtveit.
The Bruins finish out the road portion of their regular-season schedule next week in the state of Illinois. First up is a visit to the University of Illinois' Atkins Tennis Center Friday, April 10.
