
No. 4 Florida State Sneaks Past No. 3 UCLA

SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- No. 3 UCLA (3-3) dropped a close match to No. 4 Florida State (7-0) by a score of 3-2 in the second match of the day for both teams on Thursday morning at Annenberg Community Beach House.
The Seminoles earned the first point on court one when Jace Pardon and Julie Brown defeated the Bruins' freshman pair of Nicole McNamara and Megan McNamara in straight-sets, 21-12, 21-18.
Florida State took a 2-0 lead on court two seconds later after Kristina Pellitteri and Victoria Paranagua defeated UCLA's sophomore Elise Zappia and freshman Izzy Carey, 23-21, 21-17.
Seconds after court two went final, Florida State claimed a team victory on court four when Sierra Sanchez and Vanessa Freire defeated UCLA freshman Zana Muno and sophomore Reily Buechler, 21-17, 21-19.
On court five, UCLA's junior Laurel Weaver and senior Julie Consani helped the Bruins get on the board with a straight-set victory over the Seminoles' Hailey Luke and Nikki Esposito, 26-24, 21-13.
UCLA reached the 3-2 final score with a straight-set victory on court three by senior Kamila Tan and junior Jordan Anderson over Florida State's Katherine Plessy and Blyss Harkness, 21-14, 21-19.
The Bruins return to action this weekend when they host No. 7 Arizona in UCLA's Pac-12 opener at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12 at Sunset Canyon Sand Volleyball Courts.
