
UCLA Preps for San Diego Crew Classic

LOS ANGELES - The No. 20 UCLA women's rowing team will compete at the San Diego Crew Classic on Saturday and Sunday (April 2-3) at Mission Bay.
The Bruins will open competition Saturday morning with four races, starting with the varsity eight crew in the Jessop Whittier Cup, heat B, at 8:48 a.m. UCLA will be racing alongside Texas, USC, San Diego and the University of Victoria.
UCLA's varsity four will race in heat B at 9:04 a.m., taking on Texas, San Diego State, Kansas State and St. Mary's, followed by the second varsity eight competing in heat B at 9:52 a.m. UCLA's second varsity eight will compete against Texas, Gonzaga, Kansas State, Miami, St. Mary's and Humboldt State.
The Bruins' morning races will conclude with the novice eight race at 11:08 a.m. UCLA's novice eight will row against Texas, Washington State, San Diego, Minnesota, UC San Diego and Santa Clara.
UCLA will continue with races on Sunday morning with a schedule that will be determined from Saturday's results.
Last season, the Bruins' varsity four raced to a first-place finish in the Grand Final race on day two of the San Diego Crew Classic, while UCLA's second varsity eight and and novice eight boats earned second-place finishes.

9:04 a.m. – Varsity Four, heat B (Karen Plumleight Cortney Cup)
9:52 a.m. – Second Varsity Eight, heat B (Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Memorial Trophy)
11:08 a.m. – Novice Eight, prelim (Laurel V. Korholz Perpetual Trophy)
