7TH INNING SPOTLIGHT
An ordinary day for a UCLA baseball player sounds a little like this: 6:00 am wake up call for weights, class throughout the day, and practice in the afternoon going into the evening. With most of their days committed to baseball it's hard to think they'd have time for anything else in their lives, but rest assured they do.
The Seventh Inning Spotlight aims to shine light on the unique personalities and lifestyles of each UCLA baseball player with Q & A's to get to know each player beyond their athletic abilities. Each week we will be highlighting a new student athlete. So stay tuned to learn about one of your favorite Bruins.

What is the last thing you took a picture of?
It was a screenshot of my coach's text. I sent him a screenshot of my dinner and his response was, “Boom…Nice!! Don't forget dessert!!,” with a picture of SpongeBob flexing.
What is the last thing you searched online?
An EKG graph for my PhySci class.
What was the last thing you posted on social media?
On Twitter I retweeted, “The worst game winning shot in the history of March madness”.
What was the last thing you couldn't stop laughing about?
Last night I was in Garrett's room and one of my suitemates kept singing to the most random music and we could hear him through the walls. It was funny because an Adele song came on and we didn't think he would listen to Adele and his voice was pretty funny as well.
What was the last good piece of advice you received?
“Regardless of what goes on around you, just always keep your chin up and chest out.” Coach Ward told us that.
What was the last professional sports game you went to?
Red Sox vs. Yankees. I was in Newport Rhode Island for summer ball and my host dad was a huge Red Sox fan and took me to the game. Before that game I'd say probably a Padres game a while ago.
What was the best thing that happened last month?
We won the Dodger town classic. That whole weekend of the Dodger town classic was definitely a highlight of the month.
What was the best thing that happened to you last year?
Just being on the team last year…the whole experience of being on the team as a freshman and the older guys were all great. We didn't loose a series until the last week of the season and we were the number one seed going into playoffs.
What's the last thing you do before you walk onto the field?
I like to joke around with teammates and stay loose before the game. And I try to stay true to my routine, which is to try and get a laugh in before I go onto the field.
What would you say is your last big accomplishment?
I got an A in one of my classes last quarter.
Describe the last dream you can remember?
I don't remember it exactly but it was something super scary and I was running away from something. It was an apocalypse type thing so I was trying to survive and then it bounced to something else and I woke up.
Describe the last time you visited home.
The last time I visited home was on Easter. I got to see a lot of my family for the first time in a while. My grandma was there from Florida who I hadn't seen in years. It was a really short and sweet visit because we had just gotten back from travelling.
What was the last movie you watched?
Happy Gilmore. It was hilarious.
What was the last book you read?
The Alchemist.
When was the last time you were scared?
Going into my final for my German class because I had heard that it was pretty hard from people who had taken it before and I didn't know what to expect
What was the last thing you were really excited about?
It's pretty cliché but playing games and game day in general is always exciting cause you never know what's going to happen.
What was the last thing you did for the first time?
I went to Palomino and my girlfriend made me eat some kind of vegetables that I had never known for the first time and they weren't good.
What was the last thing you wished you could have?
I was talking to my friends from home hoping that we could do something together again. I wish that we could all do something fun and be together but everyone goes to different schools. I also wished that breakfast were open yesterday because I woke up really late.
Lastly, what was the last thing you remember going through your mind when you're up at bat?
It kind of changes from before to during. Before I'm thinking about the situation and what I need to do. When I'm up to bat I try to simplify things as much as possible and try not to think at all. I just try to see the ball up no matter what it is.
