April 07, 2016 | Beach Volleyball

Freshmen Megan McNamara and Nicole McNamara (Vancouver, B.C., Canada) of the UCLA beach voleyball team were named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athletes of the Week for Mar. 28-Apr. 3.
The identical twins went undefeated on the week and helped fifth-ranked UCLA to a 3-0 week, pulling off two upsets in the process. The Bruins opened the week with a 3-2 home win over previously unbeaten and top-ranked Pepperdine on Wednesday. UCLA rallied from an 0-2 deficit to defeat the Waves, with the McNamaras defeating Heidi Dyer and Taylor Racich in the final match, 21-15, 21-23, 15-8 to seal the upset. The twins then posted a straight-set victory over Arizona State's Bianca Arellano and Whitney Follette (21-16, 21-16) in the first match at the Outrigger Beach Volleyball Challenge in Honolulu, Hawaii on Saturday. The pair concluded the week with a come-from-behind three-set win over Hawai'i's Nikki Taylor and Lara Schreiber (17-21, 21-16, 15-6). Their win clinched another 3-2 Bruin upset over a higher-ranked team.
This is the McNamaras' first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of their career.
